About Bazooka Candy Brands
Bazooka Candy Brands, the confectionery division of Topps Inc., manufactures and markets iconic lollipop brands such as Mega Mouth® Candy Spray, Juicy Drop Pop®, Big Baby Pop®, Ring Pop® and Push Pop® as well as other sweets and gum products, including the infamous Bazooka® Bubble Gum. The Topps Company was founded in 1938 as Topps Chewing Gum, and in its early years produced a popular penny "Topps Gum" from a factory in Brooklyn, N.Y. After World War II, in 1945, the company developed Bazooka® Bubble Gum, and in 1950, added trading cards to its product line. Today Bazooka Candy Brands Limited is focused on and committed to producing high quality sweets that are great tasting, interactive and entertaining. It's this combination of fun and creativity that kids love and why the brands continue to enjoy success across the globe. Kids Marketing Policy
At Bazooka Candy Brands, we are committed to being responsible marketers of candy brands that delight millions of kids, and kids at heart, each year. We believe our products can be part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle when consumed in moderation as occasional treats - Bazooka®, Mega Mouth® Candy Spray, Juicy Drop Pop®, Big Baby Pop®, Ring Pop® and Push Pop® are delicious long lasting treats with 100 calories or fewer, and no fat.
Bazooka Candy Brands values the opportunity to communicate with all consumers about the Company's products and wishes to do so respectfully and responsibly, especially to those under the age of 12. Bazooka Candy Brands supports the Children's Advertising Review Unit (CARU) and the National Confectioners Association in their efforts to encourage responsible marketing to children. As such, Bazooka Candy Brands complies with CARU and Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) standards governing all kid-directed marketing activity including TV, radio, print advertising and on-line communications, company-run websites, social network participation, and sponsorships. We also support the goals of the Children's Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative, and comply with most of its tenets. We are not a member of this initiative, however, because we believe some of its mandates are tailored to the larger companies which currently compromise its membership, and are not suitable for smaller companies like Bazooka Candy Brands.
The commitments we make when communicating with current and prospective consumers of all ages are:
Bazooka Candy Brands communications will be honest in the portrayal of product attributes, including any claims about nutritional values. Nutrition information for a representative sampling of our products will be published in the corporate website to help consumers make healthy eating decisions.
Bazooka Candy Brands communications will not offend against accepted standards of good taste and decency.
Bazooka Candy Brands communications will not disparage the pursuit of an active lifestyle or healthy eating choices, nor will they imply that confectionery products are replacements for balanced meals.
Bazooka Candy Brands will not promote excessive consumption of its treats, and will feature reasonable portion sizes for the situation depicted.
Bazooka Candy Brands television, social media communications, third-party print and third-party Internet advertising will not show children under the age of eight to promote confectionery products unless accompanied by adults or images are submitted as user-generated content.
Bazooka Candy Brands advertising will not use third-party license characters in a manner that blurs the distinction between the advertising and the TV programme, movie or other entertainment content.
Bazooka Candy Brands communications will not showcase violent or offensive behaviour, or portray children in unsafe situations. In addition, communications efforts should not encourage discrimination on the basis of gender, race, religion or political affiliation.
Bazooka Candy Brands communications will not encourage children to copy any practice that might be unsafe.
Bazooka Candy Brands will not advertise its products in primary/elementary schools.
Bazooka Candy Brands websites will be open and available to people of all ages, but will require registration and age verification for competitions, contests and sweepstakes in accordance with COPPA/ CARU guidelines. If Bazooka Candy Brands integrates advertising into on-line games or activities, it will be clearly disclosed as such.
When communicating with consumers online, Bazooka Candy Brands representatives will appropriately identify themselves and respect the confidential information of fans and followers.
When creating content intended for social media network consumption and managing social network fan pages, Bazooka Candy Brands will respect copyright and intellectual property, supporting the guidelines established by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) of 1998.
Bazooka Candy Brands sends free sample products to reporters and bloggers for their review. Whenever Bazooka Candy Brands Limited sends free product or provides any other type of incentive to a reporter or blogger, we request that they clearly disclose that in the body of their review, and ask them to adhere to our communications guidelines.
Bazooka Candy Brands publishes these Consumer Communications Commitments on our Brand and Topps corporate websites, so that they are readily available for public review and response.
Bazooka Candy Brands Consumer Communications Commitments will be reviewed and updated at least annually.
